Amphawa Floating Market is one of the most famous floating markets in Thailand.  It is located on the canal near Wat Amphawan Chetiyaram where the two canal Wat Chula and the river Mae Klong meet in the area of ​​Samut Songkhram Province.  It is a market that is created by the cooperation of the  people in the community to preserve the way of life of the community along the river. Amphawa city is located about 75 kilometres from Bangkok and there is a direct air-conditioned bus line between the two cities. The bus ride takes around 1.5 hours. At the market one can find all kinds of goods: clothes, fruits, prepared delicious food and a wide variety of souvenirs. The houses built directly on the river and the slow rowing of the locals creates a busy but relaxing atmosphere and provides a good image of how life has been in the old days.
