The old city in Ayutthaya Province, the former capital of Siam for more than 400 years, is a city full of Thai history. Ayutthaya was built on top of an area where three rivers met and thus supported abundant life. It was also called the “Venice of the East” due to this unique position and closeness to water. Pretty much in the middle of Thailand, Ayutthaya is located just 76 kilometers from Bangkok.
