Kanchanaburi is a city that is filled with history and beautiful natural sites. It is the biggest city on the Burma-Thai death Railway which was built during World War II by foreign prisoners who were captured by the Japanese army. Kanchanaburi is about 150 kilometers north west from Bangkok and can be reached by bus from the Northern Bus Terminal (Mo Chit) and the ride takes only 3 hours. River Kwai is the main river that flows next to the Death Railway.
